We have worked with the Interaction Research Studio at Goldsmiths on a number of projects.
Energy and Co-Designing Communities is interested in helping people
monitor their energy reduction. A characterful yet direct typeface is
used for the typographic identity and a mark has been devised that will
be etched into prototype products.

Material Beliefs involved collaborations between engineers and designers. We developed a hybrid typeface to reflect this – formed of elements from two existing typefaces – which would act as the identity for the project. Printed in black, it was employed across letters, cards and labels. A template for posters was established featuring an attention-grabbing strapline printed on a tinted stock, allowing the client to generate new posters themselves.

Electronic Furniture for the Curious Home was a six year project in which a number of pieces of electronic furniture that added an emotional element to their surroundings were developed. The history tablecloth, for example, records where objects have been placed and glows accordingly. For the identity we constructed a typeface from shapes we found within the project's technical drawings. We employed three different paper stocks in the publication to help define different types of content and a colour palette of CMYK is used. With over 350 images to include, the pages are laid out using a strict grid, and instead of page numbers dates are used to navigate the book, with the latest project first.
