We worked with craft development agency Craftspace on this exhibition which opened at Birmingham Museum and Art Gallery in 2008 and subsequently toured.
We customised an existing typeface to create something
calligraphic which, being a traditional and labour-intensive lettering
process, had a relevance to the themes of the exhibition. This typeface was employed across all printed material and exhibition signage.
We
also designed the layout of the exhibition itself, and a
series of bespoke plinths to display the work which we had fabricated in
powder-coated steel. Exhibition interpretation and captions were printed
onto wood panels.
